SLEEP

• Cribs & Bassinets

  • We skipped the bassinet and went straight to a mini crib on wheels, but I’ve heard good things about the HALO and the Arm’s Reach. If you’re considering the SNOO, my recommendation is to wait to see what kind of sleeper your baby is because you may not even need it; and if you do, there’s now an option to rent it instead of shelling out the $1300 for a product you’ll only use for a few months.

  • If you’re looking for a mini, the Bloom Alma Mini Urban Crib is great – it’s on wheels so you can move it from room to room, and it folds up if you want to store it away for a second kid

  • Full-size cribs depend so much on your aesthetic – Pottery Barn Kids, Crate&Kids, Stokke, Babyletto and IKEA are some popular choices

• Umbrella stroller (4-6+ months or when head control is good enough to use it)

  • Colugo is a great choice; many love the BabyZen Yoyo (but it is $$$)

• Carrier – Structured

  • The Beco Gemini (and the Cool Mesh for summer/travel) worked best for me

  • Many people love the Ergo (recommend the mesh since it has a buckle and not velcro: Ergobaby 360 All Carry Positions Award-Winning Cool Mesh Ergonomic Baby Carrier) and the Lillebaby
